Hurricane Katrina – 2005

This past weekend, we went to Louisana for a cousin's wedding celebration. In the process we got a close look at the New Orleans devastation from Hurricane Katrina last summer. It's incredible to see how little has changed in the 9 months since the storm hit.

Many of the areas we drove through still had no electricity and showed almost no sign of any cleanup. Houses had water stains 7 feet up on the homes. Windows were broken in from rescuers, and orange spray paint marked what was found. Even the cemetary markers displayed the waterline stains. All this and we didn't even venture down to the notorious 9th Ward. How incredibly sad!

I have to applogize for the poor picture quality. I forgot my camera on the trip and had to use my cellphone instead. Sorry :(
