Otto Hendrick Kahler (1848-1928)

Otto Hendrick was the first son of Carl W. Kahler (1820-1889) and Johanna Meyers (1819-1881) and was born in Mecklenburg, Germany in 1848. Otto and his mother left Mecklenburg to join his father who had already immigrated to the United States in 1850. Otto had 3 siblings, the first of which was John Lewis (Johannes) (1855-1915). His youngest siblings were Louisa (1857-1907) and Christopher (1860-1946).

Otto married Geertruda Broere (1853-1904) and they had 9 children, Gertrude Johanna (1872-1957), Charlotte (1874-1951), Bastian (1876-?), Carl Andrew (1878-1948), Otto Henry (1880-1881), Otto Henry (1882-1883), Otto Henry (1884-1885), William Conrad (1885-1970), and Albert Comstock (1887-1943). Otto worked as the Point 0' Woods Ferry Boat Captain until he retired in 1921.

At some point, Otto married his second wife, Caroline Peters (1863-1921), but they had no children together.

Otto Hendrick died in 1928 in Sayville, Long Island, New York.
